Hard to believe we’re 20 games in already. The Canucks continue to lead the division in points with the sandbagging Leafs chipping away in second place.
Captains and convenors met a couple of weeks ago to discuss further balancing and a trade was made between the Canucks and Canadians. It is nice to see the Habs on the uptick and putting up a few more points now. Many thanks to the players involved in the trades, it’s never easy to be asked to move teams but it’s also the core of the BOHC – balance and fair play. Both guys moved to their respective next teams and have been positive additions to each room.
We will continue to monitor and keep the feedback loop open with all teams the rest of the way.
Another discussion point in the meeting was also around how safe defencemen and other players in vulnerable spots on the ice are feeling. Hats off to everyone for recognizing and dialing it back just a notch.
The last discussion point was around a growing number of penalties showing up on the scoresheet. Guys, we’re at the very start of a 5-pack of games at the Central Shoebox and have had a couple of incidents under review and the discipline process underway,., There’s no question that the temperature is rising with us on top of each other out there. Some have shared their thoughts that the refs are letting things get out of control… I disagree. The onus is on us as old farts, playing a kids game for nothing, to manage our own behaviour and be respectful with each other on and off the ice. If you find yourself yelling at a ref, taunting an opponent or otherwise, we ask you to check yourself. We don’t need this BS in the greatest division in the BOHC! Embrace the holiday spirit!
Speaking of holiday spirit... Notable cudos to the Flames for dominating the Christmas Dance! Great BOHC spirit there boys!
One more BOWSER on Dec 21. The BOHC is a big part of the Burlington community and there has never been greater need than today so let's keep on giving for those that can.
