We are in the final weeks of what has been another great year of BOHC hockey. A few quick items of note for you...
1. Year-End Banquet: Saturday, April 22, 6:00 pm @ Hector's
- Free BBQ dinner courtesy of the Invitational Tournament Committee
- Prestigious awards
- Lots of fun and refreshments
- Please let your Captain know if you are attending no later than Saturday, April 16 so that we can plan meal requirements
- Poolies are encouraged to join as well!
2. And They're Off -- The Horserace Has Begun
- Every year during the playoffs, the league runs the "Horserace" competition across all 8 divisions and 48 teams
- Each team tosses $32 into a pot for their division, and the winning team of the Horserace wins the pot of $192. The winning team is based on the plus/minus of all teams in the league with the same team name. Follow your team's progress during the playoffs on the Red Division standings page
3. Playoff Calming Measures Now In Effect
- With the playoffs upon us, the League considered several calming techniques, including bringing puppies into the dressing room before games, burning incense on the players' benches, and on-site trauma workers in case you feel a referee's call went against you
- However, we're scrapping those ideas and replacing them with this simple note of encouragement -- have fun in the playoffs, try hard, but don't play like a donkey
- No going hard into the corner against a guy, no aggressive stick work, and no beaking off at other players or the refs. The guys on the other team are your clubmates. If you haven't already, you'll be playing on the same team with them soon. Play against them like they are already your teammates and your buddies
Have fun out there guys -- see you at the rink, and hopefully see you at the Year-End Banquet.
